Buttery Parmesan peas is a simple side dish that's quick and easy and has great flavor. Just 3 main ingredients and about 10 minutes to make!

Who else always has a bag of frozen peas on hand?

It's such an easy staple to keep in the freezer when I realize I don't have any fresh green vegetables and I need a side dish.

So then the question becomes, what do I do with them?

Today's recipe for these buttery Parmesan peas is one of my favorite go-to answers.

Simple ingredients - really just 3 ingredients plus butter and salt and pepper - and you've got a delicious, fast side dish.

Seriously, you can have this ready in 10 or so minutes! (And you don't have to defrost the peas in advance. Cause who remembers to do that?!)

OK, let's get cooking so you can get dinner on the table.

Ingredients laid out in separate bowls for making a frozen peas recipe with Parmesan cheese.
A skillet with diced shallots sautéing in butter.
A skillet full of green peas with shallots.
A skillet full of green peas with shallots and shaved Parmesan cheese on top.

Ingredient Notes:

Butter: I use and prefer unsalted butter but salted would be fine too (just maybe reduce the amount of added salt). Feel free to serve with some extra butter if you like really buttery peas.

Shallot: This gives a great savory note to the dish. You can try a little bit of finely chopped onion in its place or skip it if needed. I've made this side dish before when I didn't have any shallots and it was still good.

Peas: I use and prefer frozen peas for this recipe. You are welcome to try it with canned peas, but I haven't tested it that way.

Parmesan: Fresh grated is best, and you'll want some extra for serving. (I will absolutely not judge if you use the stuff from the can or a container.)

This is a really versatile side dish, too, since it's got some just simple flavors. It can go with a wide variety of chicken, pork, steak and other main dishes.

Quick and easy, these Parmesan peas are going to be a new staple at your table.

Happy cooking and enjoy!
