Honey garlic is a long-time favorite flavor in my house. And yours too, it seems.

This 15 minute honey garlic chicken is one of my most popular recipes and a must try for a dinner that everyone will rave about! Or try this slow cooker honey garlic chicken for a hands off version.

There's also honey garlic pork chops and honey garlic shrimp and honey garlic salmon. Can't stop, won't stop!

Today, we're infusing those flavors into some turkey meatballs and serving them drizzled with some extra honey garlic sauce for maximum deliciousness.

These meatballs are tender on the inside and develop some yummy crisp spots around the edges as they bake.

They're a great protein and they can be prepped ahead and reheated. They freeze great, too. (Storage details are in the notes of recipe card below.)

So many reasons to love them!

So let's get cooking.

Ingredients laid out in separate bowls for making a ground turkey meatball recipe with soy sauce and garlic.

Recipe Notes:

Turkey: I use a lean ground turkey (like the 93% lean kind) but you could try these with ground beef or ground chicken if you like.

Soy sauce: I use low-sodium soy sauce so I can control the amount of sodium in this recipe. If you have regular, that's fine too but it may make the finished meatballs a little more on the salty side.

Red pepper flakes: These add a little extra kick to the recipe without making it spicy. However, you can sub out black pepper if you'd rather.

Texture: The meatballs will be a little wet when you mix them up. But they roll well into balls to place on your baking sheet and they cook up perfectly.

Sauce: There's enough sauce, as written in the recipe card below, to drizzle over the meatballs and also some for the rice and veggies you might be serving these with. Feel free to double the sauce if you really want a lot of extra.

And yes, we love making rice bowls for serving these. Steam some white or brown, or even basmati rice and add a few of these meatballs.

For a veggie, we love some bok choy or snow peas or green beans on the side. Just be sure to drizzle your honey garlic sauce over ALL of it!

I hope you give these honey garlic meatballs a try soon.

And stay tuned cause I've got more yummy meatball recipes coming your way. You can sign up for my free email newsletter so you never miss a thing.

Happy cooking and enjoy!

Ingredients

For the meatballs:

  • 1.25 pounds lean ground turkey, such as 93% lean
  • ½ cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (or sub black pepper)

For the sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (or sub black pepper)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, Panko breadcrumbs, garlic, egg, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, ground ginger and red pepper flakes.
  • Use a fork to get the mixture combined then use your hands to gently get it all the way mixed. Don't overwork it.
  • Roll the mixture into small balls (about the size of a golf ball) and place on the prepared baking sheet. You should get roughly 21-23 meatballs.
  • Bake the meatballs at 400 for about 20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • Meanwhile, make the sauce. Combine all of the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and stir well with a whisk or fork until combined.
  • Serve the cooked meatballs hot with sauce drizzled over top. Enjoy!
